I decided NOT to eat...

Good idea?  
NOOOOOOOO!!!



Who doesn't have a busy crazy schedule?

YEP!  We all do!

Work, family, school, after-school activities, sports, volunteering, gym, etc., etc.  Needless to say, LIFE is certainly crazy for all of us.




I applaud all of you who have squeezed one hour out of your day for Zumba® class -- or some other form of exercise.  But what happens when we are so focused on our crazy schedules that we SKIP A MEAL and exercise on an empty stomach?

Some may say, "Oh, it's no big deal...I'll just eat after class."
Some may say, "Oh well, I'll burn more calories since I didn't eat."


The truth of the matter is:  
Burning more calories/fat on an empty stomach is FALSE!  



Here is what will happen:






 On top of that, guess what else happens?



You read it right:  When you starve your body from the fuel it needs for your workout, the body will store most of your next meal as FAT!

Your body NEEDS fuel to sustain your workout, so working out on an empty stomach is NOT smart!  

Most importantly, working out on an empty stomach will lower your blood sugar levels, possibly making you feel dizzy and light headed :(



So what should you do?

Eat every 2-3 hours!  
Examples of healthy snacks which will give you energy are:

Fruit (apples/bananas)
Yogurt
Nuts or trail mix
Granola bar



 So there you go!  My hope is that this information will be helpful to you in achieving the best possible workout.  Let's stop and consider our bodies for a minute.  Think of all that it does to keep us going, to keep us alive, to keep us shuffling on throughout the day --- don't disrespect the body!  If you want your body to work for you, you must make it work by giving it what it needs -- healthy eats :)

Let's celebrate!



Good morning, friends!  Today, I am in celebration mode! 

After taking Zumba® Fitness classes and loving them, my mother gave me one of THE best gifts for my birthday...she signed me up to become a Zumba® Fitness instructor!

Two years ago, I took the plunge on a Sunday.  I remember being so nervous, wondering if I had it "in me" to become an instructor.  On Sunday morning, as our children laid asleep, I took the time to write them a letter expressing my feelings of nervousness and hope.  Hope to...

Long story short, here I am!  





I am thankful to God for blessing me with all that He gives me.  He gives me so much, and without Him, I would not be here experiencing this wild ride! 

I am extremely grateful to my incredible husband, Luis, who supports, encourages, and motivates me daily.  And he ROCKS as many of my classes as he possibly can -- and when he misses them, he is NOT happy LOL  My kiddos are the BEST! 

And lastly, my students!  As without you, I would not be able to share my crazy love for Zumba® Fitness!  I claim to have the BEST students, and yes, I do!!!  Thank you for your smiles, your laughter, and constant motivation!  I truly value each of you :)

So, what's the big deal with this post, you say?  So what if you've been licensed for two years.  It's only two years?

Teaching, to me, is not a job. 
It is not a drag. 
I don't teach for the money because I tend to forget to clock in at the gym LOL 
I teach because I LOVE Zumba® Fitness. 
I teach because I have a passion, and I want to share it with everyone. 
I teach because I want others, who are/were in my same shoes, to know that they, too, can enjoy a fitness program that WORKS! 

So what's the BIG DEAL?  While I have been teaching for 1-1/2 years, teaching IS a big deal for me -- and I hope that this comes through me at each of my classes :)

It is a gloomy, rainy day here in Round Rock, Texas!  Someone turn up the music because this weather is making me sleepy!
